For eight years I’ve put up with a door in our hallway that creaks when it’s almost closed, and it doesn’t latch properly therefore it is regularly “almost closed” unless we prop it open. I’ve tried fixing doors in the past and not had much luck so didn’t bother with this one. Finally, I gave in. It took me only ~45 mins to remove the door, lubricate the hinges, remove the latch, file out the part that catches it, replace the lot and the door now works.
About the only downside of the work was deciding to bash my thumb, not the chisel, when working on the doorframe.
So, for putting up with the frustrations of a stupid door for that long and then it being such a quick fix I could have done years ago, I am my own SPOTD.
